ASRC Board Members
We are proud to maintain a Board of Directors comprised of family members.
- Julie Hipp - President
Julie has been actively involved with ASRC for many years, when it was originally known as the Greater New Haven PDD/Asperger Network. She is an Independent Marketing Consultant and Executive Recruiter, and has a son on the autism spectrum. Julie has been active in assisting school districts and recreation providers to offer appropriate social skills and mentorship programs for kids with an ASD, and has established successful models of such programs in her town for others to follow.
- Michael DePalma - Vice President
Michael is the father of a son, Nicholas, who is on the autism spectrum and a daughter, Adriana who is Nicky's favorite person in the whole world! Michael works as a Personal Insurance Salesperson for Webster Insurance in Meriden. He lives in Madison with his two children and his wife Anne.
- Dean Young - Treasurer
Dean works as an Assistant Vice-President for commercial lending at Citizens Bank of CT. Dean has been active as a Board Member of Whitneyville Church of Christ and a Treasurer for the Cub Scouts of America, Pack 92. Dean has been involved with ASRC for many years serving one year as a Board Member. Dean has a son, on the spectrum.
- Robin Trowbridge - Secretary
Robin is the proud mother of four remarkable young people, one of whom experiences an autism
spectrum disability. She works full time as an Area Director for a private nonprofit which serves adults with developmental
disabilities within central Connecticut. Since joining the journey of autism many years ago, the ASRC, its Directors and network
have been an invaluable resource to her, her family, and the Connecticut community. She is proud to contribute in whatever way
possible to forward the mission of our Center.
- Peggy Day
Peggy is the mother of three teenagers, including a high functioning autistic son. She is an attorney in private practice and has served on several non-profit boards, currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Canterbury School, Families Network of Western Connecticut and also on the Board of Advisors of Niagara University. She is thrilled have been asked to join the board of ASRC, an organization near and dear to her heart, which has been so very helpful to she and her son - and countless others!
- Jadine Finch
Jadine works as a real estate paralegal in Milford, CT. She has a daughter who is on the autism spectrum. She has been involved with the CT Autism Resource Center for many years.
- John Gawlak
Director of the Wallingford Parks & Recreation Department and has worked for the department for over 18 years. John advocated and worked hard
facilitating the need for Inclusion recreation programs at the Wallingford Recreation Department which also led to the creation of
a part-time CTRS position on staff. Kathy Radzuinas is our CTRS and has taken Julie Hipp's pilot program of
6 children to now serving over 400 children, adults and program mentors. John lives in Wallingford with his three children and
wife Kristin.
- Christopher Lyle
Chris is the Agency Principal for the Allstate Insurance Agency in Derby, CT. He has a son and
a daughter, both of whom are on the autism spectrum. Chris is a founding member and treasurer of the Orange SEPTA since 2002.
He has been a mentor in the Derby Public Schools since 1995.
- Tina Rembish
Tina is a secondary English teacher who currently works in the alternative high school at Fairfield Public Schools.
She has written and received several grants for improving critical literacies by teaching social skills to empower struggling adolescents.
In 2006, she was one of the facilitators for the new ASRC Fairfield County Support Group. She has been involved with the center since her son, who has Asperger's Syndrome, was first diagnosed. Tina resides in Fairfield with her husband and two other daughters. She is passionate about advocating for individuals on the spectrum and enthusiastic about doing her part to uphold and advance the endless accomplishments of the center.
- Amy Sorenson
Amy has a son with autism, and a daughter. She started a support group in Weston for parents of children with special
needs in 2001, and became a member of the Board in 2006.
