ASRC TRAINING SERIES FOR 2010 - 2011

For the first time ASRC will be offering their Advocacy Training series in three locations around the state. We have been given this opportunity by a grant from the Autism Center at Southern Connecticut State University. We will start with offering it in the Fall in Trumbull; The Autism Project at Kennedy Center will host it. We will then offer it in the Winter at our Center in Wallingford, and finally in the Spring in Torrington. The locations will be announced shortly. The Series in each location will be offered for 10 weeks, 30 hours of training in all.

Families are their child's best advocates, but they need to be prepared to act on behalf of their child in productive ways. This includes understanding the nature of their child's disability, school district policies and procedures, basic principles of IDEA and what is considered to be best practice for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

This is a unique opportunity to receive the knowledge and skills needed to advocate successfully for your child. This is a series designed specifically for parents, guardians or advocates.

For further information please contact Lois Rosenwald at the Center, 203 265-7717 or Lois.asrc@sbcglobal.net
